How we work

What we work on in individual therapy

“You won’t get a lecture or a script.”

Sometimes you know exactly what's wrong. Sometimes it's just a feeling that something isn't quite right. Either one is a fine place to start.

Together we'll look at what's happening underneath: the thoughts, habits and relationship patterns that keep you stuck. We'll get curious about where they came from and what they might be protecting. Then we make room for change, at a pace that feels manageable.

You won't get a lecture or a script. You are the expert on your own life. My role is to listen, ask thoughtful questions, and offer new ways of seeing things.

Areas of focus

What I help with

  • Anxiety and stress

When your mind won't slow down, your body stays tense, or everyday life feels overwhelming. We look at what drives the worry and practice new ways to meet it.

  • Self-worth and self-image

For the inner critic that never lets up. We work on self-esteem, self-compassion and body image, and on the way you talk to yourself when things go wrong.

  • Boundaries and family

Saying no without guilt, and understanding the family and relationship patterns you grew up with. Together we sort out what's yours to carry and what isn't.

    Find your rhythm

Most people start with weekly sessions. Over time we adjust how often we meet based on your needs, goals and progress.

How individual therapy online works with me

My approach is warm, genuine and collaborative. You set the pace, and I follow your lead on what matters most. I'll ask questions, reflect back what I notice, and offer a different angle when it's useful. I also value a little lightness in the room. A laugh now and then can make the heavy parts easier to talk about.

Sessions are 53 minutes by secure video, so you can join from anywhere private in Washington, whether that's home or a quiet office.

Can I start therapy alone if the problem is my relationship?

Yes. Individual therapy is often a helpful place to start. You can focus on your own needs, patterns and goals while your partner decides if and when they want to join. If they become open to couples therapy later, we can talk through the best next steps together.

Do I need to know what's wrong before I reach out?

No. Therapy often begins with simply knowing that something doesn't feel quite right. Maybe you're struggling to understand yourself, or you're entering a new season of life and aren't sure how to navigate it. Wherever you're starting from, we can begin there.

Is online therapy as personal as meeting in person?

It can feel surprisingly personal. You're talking face to face, just on a screen, and you're doing it from a space where you already feel at ease. We still build a real working relationship, and there's no commute to squeeze in before or after a hard conversation.

What if I've never been to therapy before?

That's completely fine, and it's common. Our first session is simply about getting to know each other. I'll ask about your background and what brought you in, and you'll get a sense of whether I feel like a good fit. There's no right way to show up.

You don't have to wait until things feel impossible to reach out.
